Gurgus the Great is generally credited as the Tryptozian who began his race's civilization on Shairek in the year 32 of his planet's calendar. He did so by inventing the planet's first tool, the can-opener. (Computer Game: Spore)
According to legend, he was born as Grrrg, who was known as Grrrg Little-Eye because his eye was smaller than normal. He was also made fun of because of his knobby tentacles. (Short Story: "The Legend of Gurgus the Great")
