The Epitaph of Sin was a journal kept by Castitas, prior to her corruption in the city of Babel. It recounts her history with the people of Babel and how she -- and the city -- fell into its desolate state. It depicts events leading up to the Babel event.
The journal was a real prose story, ripped up into pieces as a re-assembling puzzle during Exile.
Story[]
The story begins with Castitas, cursed to wander a desert eternally after being expelled from a paradisaical garden where she lived with her lover. She comes upon the city of Babel, where she's taken in by a woman known as Utilis. She begins teaching the people how to craft and make statues. She also brings knowledge of how to create a cure for the Mordo plague.
However, this all backfires when the various Councilors all fall to corruption, failing to enact their duties. Meanwhile, in a series of visions or flashbacks, Castitas sees her former lover having moved on with a new woman. She offers them an apple, corrupting them. In Babel, she converts the entire population into Umbrians.
